Job Description:/h3:
Job Summary: The Cost Estimating Manager is responsible for leading and directing the core systems and processes surrounding the receipt, processing and return of estimates to customer requests for production operations. The position provides technical direction from industry wide best practices, and innovative techniques to be applied during the estimating phase. The director provides organizational structure, roles and responsibilities and ensures symmetry between the functions in the estimating group as well as coordination with the sales, engineering, finance, program management and operations team.
Essential Duties and Requirements of the Job:

:Cultivate a deep understanding of QMCs core values of teamwork, innovation, passion, and communication and evaluate team members for alignment
:Drives a culture that is focused on Safety, Quality and Productivity by instilling:

:Adherence to Safety Policies from all staff members
:Installing systems and processes targeted at refined accuracy in estimates
:Adherence to Manpower Budgets

:Train, Coach and Mentor team in estimating tools and application of those techniques
:Identify and implement improvement activities surrounding estimating best practices
:Stays in tune with best in class manufacturing practices in the automotive market as well as recycles lessons learned from launched projects.
:Motivate team members to high performance targets.
:Continuously seek talented team members for further development and growth within the organization
:Develop, Organize and report on Key Performance Indicators to VP of Manufacturing
:Participates in continuous learning activities focused on improved individual and team performance.
:Works closely with peers to development long term strategies that drive QMC to be best in class with cost estimating and processing.

Skills Required to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:

:Strong proficiency in Leadership and communication skills
:Ability to effectively Plan long and short term strategies for a Dept.
:Ability to generate action plans to implement planned strategies
:Proficient in Microsoft Office
:Ability to understand and interpret customer technical data and quote forms and translate them into simple effective systems for conformance.

Educational Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job:

:Leadership training for managers
:High School Diploma or equivalent
:Technical school or secondary education is preferred
Physical, Mental and Psychological Requirements to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:

:Must be able to handle difficult discussions with Employees and Customers
:Must be able to formulate, based on data, action plans for correction or improvement
:Must be able to create clear concise data packages for presentation to customers
:Must be comfortable speaking in front of medium to large groups
:Must be able to handle external pressures
:Must be able to assess and provide solutions in time sensitive situations relative to customers needs.
Specific training requirements:

:ISO/TS including core tools
:Visual ERP : Estimating window, manufacturing window
:QMC Emergency Response Planning
:QMC standard reporting and interpretation
:QMC PPE assessments and application
:Team problem solving
:AIAG standards for automotive quality tools
Key performance indicators:

:Estimated actual costs accuracy from estimating to launch
:Quote timeliness
:Vendor quote timeliness
:Employee development (training)

Work as required to be successful in role which in most cases will be 6 days a week. Mainly Day shift but must be flexible to meet the schedule that the situation dictates.
