Join our IXN managed services team as a Cloud Systems Engineer in our East Lansing office. Manage network infrastructure, configure AWS services, support users, and optimize other Internet services. The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of experience with system engineering for Windows and Linux along with experience developing documentation; providing technical support, and supporting end users. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Duties and Responsibilities Client Relationship Management * Must be able to offer and deliver exceptional customer service (see our Gold Standards) * Develop, build, and sustain long-term relationships * Develop proposals and deliver presentations Systems Administration * Provision and manage virtual servers running Windows and Linux * Diagnose and maintain complex networked systems with an understanding of the relationships and dependencies between various infrastructure components, such as server configuration, security constraints, server standards, and messaging systems * Effectively communicate technical problems and solutions * Shared 24-hour emergency call (onsite and remote) Process Improvement * Improve processes by suggesting and testing ideas, and monitoring process performance * Assist with implementing and validating security controls towards regulatory compliance Writing Documents & Policies * Create effective procedures and improve processes with forms and documentation * Maintain effective systems administration documentation Qualifications Knowledge/Skills: Required: * Personal qualities that contribute to a team environment * Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills * Excellent problem solving skills * Above average aptitude and knowledge of Windows and Unix systems administration * Demonstrable skill in advanced networking concepts * Ability to complete work on-time and within budget * Ability to adapt to new and unfamiliar concepts and tools with minimal assistance * Basic understanding of websites, programming, databases, and related Internet technologies * Virtual machine technologies (eg, VMWare) Knowledge of the following technologies is a plus: * Amazon Web Services (AWS) * Router (eg, Cisco) and firewall administration * SQL Server or Oracle Administration * Software patterns and software development life cycle methodologies Experience/Education The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with the following technologies: * DNS (Windows and BIND) * VPNs (OpenVPN, SSTP, IPSec) * IIS and advanced Apache * SQL Server and MySQL configuration, backup, and recovery data management * Active Directory * PowerShell and Unix shell scripting Experience managing websites and using scripting languages a plus. (eg, PowerShell, Unix shell scripting, or Perl). Other Requirements * May require travel, successful completion of a drug test, and/or credit/background checks.
