Job DescriptionThe Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) takes a System of Systems approach to the planning, analysis, design, and development of cybersecurity mechanisms applied to Platform Information Technology (PIT) Systems and subsystems. Serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in vehicle electronics, software, information system security engineering and electronic architecture and advises the PEO GCS G6/CIO on the PMs compliance with the Federal, DoD, Army regulations and system requirements.Responsibilities involve integration of information systems security engineering into the life cycle acquisition process. The incumbent has significant responsibility for determining the resources to devote to particular programs, policy formulation, and long-range planning in conjunction with prospective changes in functions and programs.The incumbent will be responsible for documenting existing and proposed platform electronics and security architectures to convey compliance, issues, risks, mitigations, and solutions.The incumbent will analyze vehicle networks, software, electronics, firmware, and other system characteristics to identify vulnerabilities and reduce the risk of exploitation; develop and implement verification / system scanning and certification plans for Platform Information Technology Systems and maintenance; and resolve system vulnerabilities through continuous design improvements, problem solving, and keeping key personnel informed.Incumbent serves as a technical authority within the PM regarding the availability and maturity of technology for use in the overall platform System of Systems architecture, to include interconnecting support equipment and network facing C4ISR subsystems.Incumbent plans systems analysis and engineering design efforts for the PM. Conducts analysis of system requirements to establish functional requirements and identify and perform hardware/software trade-offs.Incumbent develops conceptual design of vehicle electronic systems through analysis of computer hardware, interface hardware, software requirements, firmware requirements, and network architectures as elements of total system design.Incumbent will be required to identify problem areas, monitor, and provide feedback in DoD and vendor provided services; requiring knowledge of the PEO GCS platform system architectures and infrastructures, including design features and operational processes employed to ensure the security and integrity of communications networks in the tactical field environment.Requirements:U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of customer requirements. Applicant must possess or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline paired with eight (8) years of experience.Ability to meet the certification and position requirements for IASAE level II (Obtain CISSP within a year)Mastery of a wide range of information systems security engineering fundamentals, computer standards, systems administration, operating systems, interfacing requirements, software applications, firmware, computer techniques, requirements, methods, and hardware, such as would be gained through work experience or graduate study.Knowledge of and ability to apply information systems security engineering, information systems security principles, concepts, and standards, including knowledge of new cybersecurity engineering standards and PIT system security developments.Demonstrated ability to apply network and computer security techniques and tools, including the TCP/IP family, firewall operation, systems security tools, and integrity/enforcement monitoring tools to contribute to the design and implementation of security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities in mission critical PIT system resources.Knowledge of network architecture, network design and security, systems software, network and computer security tools, system architecture and component design, system operational specifications, and component interfacing.Knowledge of intrusion detection systems, Intrusion processing systems, and security event and incident management systems.
