Requisition Id : 106022 Additional Work Location(s) : Position Summary: The Senior Manager - Requirements Engineering is a key technical leadership position for programs both internal to HARMAN and external to suppliers and the OEM customer. This position requires a broad background in mechanical, electrical, human-machine interface (HMI), wireless networks, Internet technologies, vehicle interfaces, and hardware/software engineering to lead a team to define the next-generation features and associated requirements. This position will bring a technical team together, make tradeoffs, assess technical risks, resolve issues, and achieve a technical solution that meets the customer requirements and program timing. This position will also be able to effectively communicate and document the resulting features, technical and performance requirements, acceptance criteria, and design as well as serve as the technical customer interface for all programs lead by HARMAN's North American product team. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will have global team of direct reports and contractors to determine the customer's expectations and document their requirements and assess the impact of change requests through the development and launch process. This position may have 5-10 direct reports and may also manage contract employees. As such, our systems are leading the industry with exciting innovations in multimedia, connectivity, car-centric applications, navigation, advanced safety, and multi-modal interfaces. This position will be at the center of the development, working closely with our OEM partners, internal and customer engineering teams, and select 3 rd parties to define next generation features and services. Responsible for leading the technical development of Infotainment products by managing the definition and documentation of requirements, hardware and/or software architectures, performing tradeoffs and risk analysis, and recommending a final design and suite of services that meets the customer needs and program timing. Lead team to map HARMAN and customer specifications to create final product specification and provide traceability to internal and customer requirements. Lead the impact analysis of change requests to determine effort, technical and program risk, feasibility, costs, and effect of the final product's functionality and market appeal. Collaborate with engineering and test teams to ensure that product requirements are feasible, clear, complete, and testable. Be apprised of new technologies and create means to adapt relevant technologies to the automotive market. Lead detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications. Strong communications skills, both written and verbal. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. 12-15 years of systems engineering, requirements management, or related background Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design, and real-time embedded applications Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with business and technology leaders. Proven technical leadership of cross-functional teams and projects in matrix-based organizations Experience managing employees (both direct and dotted-line supervision) Experience working in the automotive, wireless, and/or technology industries Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and/or Business Administration Broad technical background with general knowledge of Bluetooth, WiFi, cellular technology, smart phones, navigation, GPS, tuner, satellite radio, video, voice recognition, hands-free operation, vehicle bus, advanced safety, cloud-based services, and automotive requirements Multi-lingual, particularly Japanese language skills Project management experience Experience developing engineering processes MS Project proficiency ASPICE knowledge Experience managing external and internal vendors/partners Results Driven: Has a proactive, goal oriented approach to decision making Clear and strategic thinker; proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plans Capable of handling multiples projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion Team Player : Has respect for colleagues Leads teams with clarity and accountability Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of a global matrixed organization Change Orientation : Able to adapt to changing demands and conditions Able to act as a change management expert and enabler on various projects and programs across the business Customer Focus : Provides exceptional service and quality to external and internal customers Understanding and experience working in organizations that have centralized and de-centralized structures as business requirements change Ability to work collaboratively with customers to determine the optimal features that will meet their intended experience, business objectives, cost, and timing Self-Awareness : Accepts responsibility for personal development and actions Has clear objectives and strives to exceed them Takes ownership for personal career and skill development Eligibility Requirements: Willingness to travel less than 20% of the time.
