The Ford Global UX Team is a growing team committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that continually inspire our teams and customers to go further.
Our diverse Global UX Team : situated in greater Detroit, Palo Alto, London, Shanghai : is comprised of experience strategists, researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, industrial designers, motion and audio designers, content creators, prototypers, and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility : Ford and Lincolns vehicles and surrounding experiences.
We are looking for a seasoned UX practitioner and strategy leader to oversee the strategy practice and to guide multidisciplinary UX team members to envision and design future mobility experiences. You will partner with UX researchers to frame the right questions and design research programs that lead us to new insights. With your creative and analytical mind, you will use key insights to frame new opportunity spaces and guide the experience vision for our future global customers. You will relentlessly advocate a human centric perspective through all stages of the design process. As a team player, you will create impact by collaborating across the UX organization and with key work partners across product, marketing, engineering, design, and technology teams. You will travel domestically and internationally as needed. This position is located in Dearborn, MI, relocation is available.
Position Responsibilities:
:On select projects, facilitate and lead research, design, and technology teams through visioning and concepting (design thinking)
exercises/workshops (digital and physical, connectivity, intelligent systems, mobility and deep dives into particular consumer segments, emerging cultural trends, advanced technologies and more.)
:Build and manage a team of UX strategists, assign team members to active projects and oversee work
:Guide and oversee holistic experience vision and design solutions from research to design delivery
:Collaborate with UX research team to design research programs that will inform key project tracks
:Create frameworks that empower the UX strategy community to conduct the right activities at the right time by providing tools, processes, best practices and
templates/frameworks for delivery
:Ensure overall quality of experience solutions throughout the design process
:Share trends, strategic perspectives, concepts with the Global UX team and key work partners to further develop consumer:centered strategies that align with Fords vision, goals, vehicles, services and markets
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:

:Bachelors degree
:8+ years of experience as hands:on UX practitioner (e.g. UX designer, interaction designer, researcher, UX strategist) creating user experiences for digital and/or product : mobile, web, software, physical + digital, automotive
:4+ years of experience managing and leading UX design teams that resulted in creating world:class experiences and/or services
Preferred Qualifications:
:Masters degree in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Anthropology, Psychology, or related field
:10+ years of experience as an interaction or user experience designer or UX Strategist
:7+ years of experience managing and leading UX design teams that resulted in creating world:class experiences and/or services
:Ability to teach design research methods, prototyping, and other aspects of experience strategy and design
:Expertise in user:centered design process
:Experience leading design thinking workshops and brainstorming sessions
:Experience collaborating with multi:disciplinary teams across all aspects of UX design processes
:Ability to mentor and grow team members into future specialists and leaders
