Internship Opportunity
Automotive Team : Data or Production Operations
Southfield, MI
Team Overview:
This position would work within the Automotive business line in Southfield, MI. The Automotive team focuses on delivering high:quality data and information solutions to our customers in order to help them make critical business decisions. Customers include all major OEMs as well as companies like Facebook and Google. We are looking for internships positions within two different teams within the Automotive group, Data Operations and Production Operations. The positions and skills are similar; one team focuses on getting the data defined, standardized in loaded into data marts, the other team focuses on determining customer requirements and formatting and presenting the data to the meet these requirements.
Position Summary:
As an Intern with IHS Markit, you will undertake work on a real business project intended to add value to your team as well as provide you with a great learning opportunity. In addition, you will take responsibility for daily tasks similar to those a permanent Programmer/Analyst would perform, which will provide you with the opportunity to see how a career within the automotive data industry will start. Upon completion of the internship, you will have an understanding of how data plays a critical part in making key business decisions in the auto industry and how it adds value to our customers. You will see how the business and technical side of data compilation and presentation come together to create impactful and actionable information and how the technology is maintained and developed in order to keep it competitive in the marketplace.
Role Requirements:
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates should demonstrate the following education, skills and experience:
:Work with business customers to define and document specific data requirements and business rule logic to extract data from a large:scale data mart
:Participate and contribute to design specifications for extraction of data from a data mart based on identified business rules and data requirements
:Develop and test logic in PL/SQL based on detail requirements and design
:Participate in analyzing large data sets for root cause analysis and data comparisons
:Experience in SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, Hadoop, or Talend
:Experience with business and technical requirements, data analysis, testing, development methodology and/or data modeling
:Excellent verbal and presentation skills
:Excel skills and proficiency with other MS applications (Word and PowerPoint)
:The ability to work to deadlines and prioritize a complex workload
:Strong quantitative, analytical and quality control skills
:Strong attention to detail
:A flexible attitude and the ability to work collaboratively
