Job Details: Position Title: Clinical Services Clerk II Description: Prepares patient for physical exam and assists family members as necessary. Continuously utilizes the recognized standards of customer satisfaction. Acts as an information resource for residents, students, and providers on a daily basis. Rooms patient for physician. Assist patients during diagnostic/therapeutic procedure as directed by physician. Query patient insurance and complete ABN as appropriate. Records vital signs, temperature, weight, medications, pain scale, treatment administered and subjective data in chart. Performs phlebotomy, collects urine and stool specimens. Performs diagnostic testing and 12 lead EKGs. Administers medications according to established procedures under direction of a physician. Provides patient education within the scope of the practice, either in person or by the phone. Monitors patient safety and intervenes appropriately to assure safe patient care. Answers prescription line, calls pharmacy with medication orders for patients as written by physician and notifies patient of prescription status. Schedule patient appointments, interview patient, relative or representative for demographic data and insurance coverage via EPIC scheduling system following corporate registration guidelines and protocols. Ensure appropriate authorization for services or referrals as required, when applicable. Prepare all appropriate paperwork as necessary. Document all appropriate diagnosis codes and obtain appropriate consent form from patient Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent; Must be experienced as a Medical Assistant and able to perform all functions of the role. Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant preferred by hospital policy. BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Associationis required prior to employment per hospital policy. Must be able to perform diagnostic testing, EKGs, phlebotomy, give injections, blood pressures, and assist in minor surgical procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians and medical assistant students. Must exhibit behavior associated with Beaumont Standards of service, respect, ownership and attitude.
