Job Description:/h3:
The primary role of the Electrical Systems Engineer is to lead the development of the high voltage system architecture strategy. This entails developing high voltage battery specifications and requirements which meet the overall functional requirements of the RESS to vehicle applications. Responsible for all BDU and BMS components selection to ensure a robust and reliable design.
:Assist customer in defining BMS requirements and electrical storage system functional requirements.
:Participate in efforts to ensure product robustness and reliability, supports efforts to verify supplier quality in both prototype and production program phases.
:Design to best practices for EMC/EMI protection and the validation tests performed at the sub:system and pack levels.
:Implement customer and application specific requirements within the electrical BMS.
:Lead cell characterization efforts in support of BMS functionality for prototype, production and next generation BMS systems and oversee integration of components within the BMS.
:Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements new and/or existing products, processes, materials and equipment. Engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate and beneficial techniques in a situation respectively.
:Determine component selection to ensure requirements compliance for proper sizing with regards to contactors, relays, fuses and connectors.
:Oversee design of bus bars (high and low voltage) to ensure proper cross sectional requirements to avoid thermal peaks as well as proper material selection and coatings for avoidance of galvanic corrosion.
:Generate system level schematics using VISIO.
:Design Release Engineer (DRE) activities for electrical components including DFMEA, supplier contact for identifying and ordering of components, APQP support, design confirmation, wiring schematics and DVP and R support.
:Interface with engineering, manufacturing and supply chain management colleagues to ensure requirements are specified and implemented correctly.
:Assist the sourcing and supplier management of outsourced BDU and BMS components.
:Works with internal and external resources to ensure all project needs/expectations are met.
:Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
:BS in Electrical Engineering required, MSEE desired
:5+ years of electrical engineering or relevant experience dealing with electric power systems.
:This position requires skill sets in: analog, digital, and power electronics, including noise issues, power handling on PC boards, and isolation
:Familiarity with power semiconductors, microprocessors, DC:DC power supplies, and communication circuits
:Wiring Harness experience dealing with complex routing, gauge and material selection as well as clip specifications required for component connections.
:Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
:Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate (VISIO to create wiring schematics)
:Self:motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks while providing excellent teamwork
:Knowledge and experience in implementing and integrating Automotive Vehicle Networks (CAN and/or LIN) embedded software for various OEMsCompany Description:/h3:
