Job Description:/h3:
The Powertrain Controls department is seeking an Advanced Engine Controls Supervisor to provide strategic and technical leadership in the area of developing Powertrain controls solutions. We are looking for top talent to lead a team of engineers to continue the development of current and next generation Powertrain technologies for FCA. We are seeking an engineer with experience in engine controls, engine systems development, and/or calibration. The candidate must be a strong team leader, systems focused with interdisciplinary experience and expertise, and willing to work in fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in and be able to significantly contribute in many or all of the following areas:
:Controls systems and operating strategy
:Utilization of sensors in feedback and feedforward control strategies
:Gas exchange processes (valve control, boosting systems, EGR, charge motion devices, etc.)
:Fuel systems (port and direct injection systems)
:Combustion processes (spark and compression ignition)
:Integrated powertrain control (torque characterization,
engine/transmission interactions, powertrain optimization strategies)
:Auxiliary load and thermal management
:Fuel economy and performance optimization
Basic Qualifications:
:Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Information, or other suitable degree related to engineering from an accredited university
:8 years of experience in the automotive industry
:Demonstrated technical problem solving
:Strong overall knowledge of IC engines
:Experience in engine systems and combustion theory
:Experience with
:Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
:Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills with ability to work directly with individuals and groups
:Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
:Strong project coordination and planning skills
:Strong experience leading teams, including multi:disciplinary teams
:Good understanding of the development of embedded software
:Willing to travel up to 20 away from primary location in Auburn Hills
Preferred Qualifications:
:Master of Science degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Information, or other suitable degree related to engineering from an accredited university
:Thorough understanding of validation of controls for new gasoline engines
:Thorough understanding of developing embedded software
:Thorough understanding of developing new gasoline or diesel engines
:Flexibility : must be able to adapt to changing environment with minimal effect on productivity
:Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management
:Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS:INCA
:Experience with combustion analysis tools such as CAS and Inidcom
:Experience with model:based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
:Experience with 0:D and 1:D physical modeling tools such as GT Power and Flowmaster
:Experience with rapid prototype controllers
