IHS Markit has revenue of over $3bn.Team overviewThe FP&A team is specifically responsible for all forecasting, budgeting, reporting and commercial analysis for the Autos business line, a group with combined annual revenue of c. $270m and growing. The successful candidate will be expected to support the Autos FP&A lead, and build relationships with key business leaders in Southfield and elsewhere around the world.Position summaryWe are seeking a technically sound, experienced financial analyst to join the team. You will be an organized and confident individual, with great systems knowledge, and good communication and interpersonal skills to fit into the company culture. You will have experience of hands-on management accounting, reporting, and business partnering.This role will be based in Southfield, Detroit and will report to the FP&A Lead for Autos based in the same office, with additional FP&A support provided by a team member in Penang, Malaysia.This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to develop their skills and become part of a friendly and energetic team, managing a diverse, evolving and extremely interesting product set that is renowned in the automotive industry.Key qualities of successful candidate• Provide high quality financial information that is provided on a timely and accurate basis• Provide added value commentary and insight into key variances to expectation• Develop expense tracking processes with the help of different centralised regional accounting teams to ensure they are best-in-class• Have excellent systems knowledge to be able to build out and improve existing reporting, highlight key trends, and present in a simple and insightful way to management• Work with the business to develop forward-looking budgets and forecasts that encompass the growth the team are planning• Be able to articulate the operational and commercial actions that need to be taken to deliver current year forecasts/budgetsKey responsibilitiesReporting, Analysis & performance management• Ensure business area management receives accurate monthly financial results with concise action orientated commentary and analysis• Responsible for leading preparation of analysis of expense drivers at a vendor level, to identify key reasons for variance• Partner with business to develop and implement reporting of operating metrics that drive financial performance e.g. return on investment for new product launches• Responsible for reviewing and approving monthly financial results with accounting to ensure expenses are correctly reported• Responsible for managing direct materials spend in Autos group via purchase requisition approval process• Prepare materials and analysis to central FP&A group for monthly/quarterly business operations meetings and to support monthly close processForecasting & Budgeting• Responsible for ensuring the business area has up-to-date high quality expense forecasts that reflect material issues and business plans• Ensure the business has an accurate budget in place that reflects any long term plans prepared by the business• Partner closely with the Government Relations contracting team to ensure the cost outlook is understood and consistent with financial forecastsOther• Work closely with regional Accounting teams and the business to ensure day-to-day approval of data expenses run smoothly, all costs are accounted for, and act as the primary point of contact for all related contract issues that need resolution• Partner with FP&A Autos Lead to establish successful Penang FP&A support role• Instigate process to manage expense roll-up to appropriate business lead, following reorganization earlier in 2016Education and experience• Bachelor degree with Finance and Accounting focus or equivalent• Strong systems knowledge – including ideally Hyperion and SAP• Proven experience of management accounting and business partnering, ideally within an international/ multi-site organization• Minimum 5 years work experience  We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/Disability/Veterans.
