Job Description
FRAENKISCHE USA, LP, an industry leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of technically superior corrugated plastic pipe systems for automotive, drainage, electrical, building technology and industrial applications, is seeking a Field Application Resident Engineer in the Detroit Metro Area. Although general engineering and management experience is beneficial, the best candidates are those who have practical experience working in automotive plastics manufacturing for OEMs or Tier 1 Suppliers.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
:Represent Fraenkische Industrial Pipes (FIP) on:site at the customers facility on a daily basis.
:Be the initial Point of Contact (POC) between FIP and GM on all FIP related activities: disseminate customer
requests/requirements to FIP and provide FIP feedback as required.
:Regularly attend customer meetings and provide on:site Engineering support as it relates to our product. Champion the weekly GM PDT meetings.
:Provide written weekly summary updates on current projects and activities.
:Understand FIP product offerings and utilize this information to provide insightful and detailed design solutions to the customer where applicable.
:Support customer engineering during vehicle development: prototype, pilot and initial production builds to meet customer timelines.
:Support management and coordination activities between FIP departments to meet product development requirements.
:Simultaneously set
priorities/direction for multiple programs in development.
:Provide direct communication between the customer and FIP. Obtain and understand the customers directive then communicate that direction to the FIP Design team.
:Support the FIP Design Team as issues arise by acting as the liaison between the customer and FIP to communicate the issue and provide resolution.
:Learn and understand the customers processes as they relate to FIP. Obtain access, where feasible, to the customers system to assist in releasing FIP product into their system (i.e. E2, Embassy, APM, Team Center, Supply Power, VIS Mockup...).
:Gather customer specific information as requested by FIP employees and provide that information in a timely manner.
:Travel to various GM Assembly Centers as necessary to assist, lead or troubleshoot Quality issues during the pre:Launch phase of the program. This activity could require a 24:hour turnaround.
:Assist Quality in working with GM Plant Engineering to root cause and resolve the issue.
:Assist Quality in working with the 3rd party containment services as necessary to assist in the coordination and execution of a containment or sort.
The job requirements include, but are not limited to:
:Excellent time management skills.

:Ability to multi:task multiple issue on multiple programs.
:Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow:up on tasks/concerns to completion.
:Maintain a respectful, professional attitude while adhering to local customs and dress code.
:Understanding of the cross:functional relationships between the customer intra:company groups.
:The capability to take a product through development and release into production.
:Demonstrate strong communication skills, both oral and written.
:Demonstrate skill in using Microsoft Office.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
:Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Materials preferred) or technical field
Experience/knowledge in the automotive field preferred.
:2+ years experience in a similar customer on:site support position a plus.
:Task:oriented work ethic is a key to success.
:Ability to present product related information to a group.
:CAD experience (NX, CATIA) a strong plus.
Starting pay will be commensurate with experience.
