Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for the review and analysis of new business opportunities and changes to existing accounts, and determining requirements for the development of cost and operational models and customer proposals. Responsible for or assisting with the planning and implementation of new operations, as well as for providing the ongoing engineering support of current operations.
Primary Responsibilities
:
Review client RFQs and determine job requirements, conferring directly with client as needed
:
Perform cost modeling and estimating
:
Determine physical facility requirements
:
Design warehouse, workspace, and office layouts
:
Determine manpower and staffing requirements
:
Determine operational delivery schedules and transportation requirements
:
Determine material handling equipment, storage equipment, and machinery requirements
:
Procure equipment and services through competitive bidding
:
Plan and oversee the implementation of new layouts, including the installation of machines and equipment and related services
:
Prepare and/or assist with the preparation of client proposals
:
Design efficient work processes and methods
:
Develop management control systems
:
Maintain all engineering:related records
:
Perform time studies
:
Assist operations management in problem resolution
:
Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel and equipment
:
Manage engineering changes as related to storage and handling requirements
:
Provide expert advice and guidance to management
:
Any other as required by management
Position Requirements
:
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
:
5 years engineering experience at the warehouse or plant level. Automotive 3PL experience preferred.
:
Automotive Sequence Part Delivery (SPD) experience preferred.
:
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
:
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Project, with proficiency in Word, Access, Visio, and Outlook.
:
CAD experience a plus.
:
Experience designing facility layouts.
:
Project management and timeline development experience. Able to manage multiple
projects/initiatives concurrently.
:
Knowledge of material handling equipment.
:
Excellent math skills.
:
Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
:
Excellent time management skills and ability to work toward abbreviated deadlines
:
Experienced problem:solver.
