Gull Island, Lake St. Clair

Jobbie Nooner takes place in Lake St. Clair on and around a 19acre island called ‘Gull Island’ located 5miles off the coast of Harrison Township, Michigan and it is only accessible by boat.

Neither the United States nor Canada have jurisdiction over this area and it remains an anything-goes gray area, however, it is still patrolled by Michigan’s St. Clair County Sheriff’s and they have a floating barge jail (ie: Jobbie Jail) for people who get seriously out of line, so it is both fun and safe.

Jobbie Nooner has become known as the ‘Mardi Gras of the Midwest’ and has occurred the third Friday in June every year since 1987.

The state of Michigan has over 1 million registered boats, more than any other state in the United States and Jobbie Nooner has become international in scope, it’s basically a day-long anything goes outdoor boat party.

Many people camp out on the island the night before and the event usually takes place Friday morning 8am and lasts into the evening.

Captain Jim’s Jobbie Crew Boat (35ft long pontoon boat with four pontoons that’s been converted into a wooden old world pirate ship) and its infamous Wheel of Destiny is THE main attraction at Jobbie Nooner.

Jobbie Nooner is getting bigger every year. Come join us for an unforgettable event!
